Two graduation speakers will be chosen from a group of 13 auditions by Monday according to senior class adviser Rachele Reidel.

A total of 14 seniors, one audition being a pair of speakers, are auditioning to speak at the graduation of the Class of 2017 on Friday, June 2, at Wings Stadium.

“I decided it might a be a good way to end senior year and leave my voice at the school,” senior Emmy Braasch said as she prepares for her audition. “I want to give everyone the idea that we’re all unique. Even though we have had different aspects of our life and different paths leading to graduation, we all do share a similar past.”

The auditions will take place over three days because of the sheer amount of auditions and conflicts with after-school activities, such as IB testing and athletics, according to Reidel. The auditions will conclude by Friday.

“Overall, what we really look for is a message that pertains to graduation, but it also really speaks to the class as a whole,” Reidel said. “We don’t really want to single out groups of friends or certain classes or teachers. We really want the students to have a message that is meaningful to each and every graduate.”
