The Portage Central Administration and Support Staff participated in the ALS Ice Bucket challenge, to raise awareness and money for ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Since the inception of the Ice Bucket Challenge, nearly $100 million have been raised. In the same time span last year, the ALS Association only received $2.6 million dollars, deeming this viral fundraising one of the most effective medical fundraiser. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that leads to paralysis and death while the brain remains alert. The ALS Association estimates around 5,600 new cases are diagnosed in the U.S. every year.

The PCHS Administrative and Support Staff was nominated by the Portage Northern Administrative Staff. Principal Eric Alburtus extends the nomination to all past and present teachers of Portage Central and all employees.
