Epic burger challenge for advanced foods students

Students were in a time crunch as they work on their juicy burgers for this year’s “burger challenge.” With only the hour to work, the advanced foods class worked diligently to be number one. Staff and family members judge each team on their burger. Taste, appearance and cleanliness of the station are all factors. There was a variety of taste palettes from each group. Mackenzie Pikkaart’s group made a bacon burger while Lexi Edsinga’s group made venison burgers. Senior Steven Smith confidently says “We added chipotle spices and cheese for some extra flavor.” Some groups added fries for extra points. Inspiration came from local restaurant menus for most groups. The winner will be declared once all votes are counted.
