Next Tuesday, March 27,  IB diploma seniors will be presenting their IB CAS project to the public in the community room at 6:30 p.m. The project the students will be presenting is a showing of a documentary called “Straws.” This documentary focuses on marine biology and the manner in which the disposal of plastic straws affects the marine ecosystem and specifically harms turtles.

Senior Molly Podiak is the mastermind behind this presentation and said that her mother is the source of inspiration for this idea.

“My mom went to a film interview with a friend in Ohio and they actually showed this film there,” Podiak said. “She told me about it afterward and thought it would be a great way to show how we can eliminate our carbon footprint.”

Admission to this event is free of charge. Along with the showing, there will also be a bake sale as well as a raffle. Participants of this raffle have the chance to win an adopted turtle of their own.
