The ultimate 2020 Central Stampede holiday gift guide

Sophie Wagnon, Staff Writer

The holiday season has always been a time for showing our love and appreciation to those around us, and for many of us, that means gift giving. Some of us have a pretty good idea of what our loved ones like or need, while others are completely clueless. If you relate more to the latter, don’t worry, I’m here to help. I present to you all: The 2020 Central Stampede Holiday Gift Guide.

For those of us with significant others, we all know how stressful it can be to find a gift that feels right. We see ideas off Pinterest or TikTok, but nothing feels truly perfect for that special someone. Believe it or not boys, you are incredibly hard to shop for. What I suggest for the guys is something thoughtful, not just cute sweatshirts that you’ll end up stealing anyways. Try getting him a nice wallet with a few gift cards to his favorite places. He’ll be able to pick out exactly what he wants, and every time he sees that wallet, he’ll think of you.

As for the ladies, we’re not that hard to impress nowadays. You could get your girl a pretty flower you found growing on the side of the road, and she would think about it for weeks. If the idea of shopping for a girl alone is too daunting, try going to Target with her first and see what she checks out but doesn’t end up buying. Room decor, car accessories, and candles are always reliable. This year there’s been a surge in popularity for Squishmallows, which are plush stuffed animals of all shapes, colors, and sizes. Those things are a surefire way to a girl’s heart.

Now for family members, it gets so much easier. Whether it’s mom or dad, or a sister or brother, they all have one thing in common, you. So, take advantage of that, and let your present actually involve you. Try having a spa day or a movie night (or both if you’re feeling fancy) to really show that you appreciate them by spending quality time together. Another bonus is that both of these things are super cheap. You can get face masks at the grocery store for super cheap, and nearly everyone has Netflix nowadays, but if not, there’s always the $5 movie bin at Walmart.

Friends are obviously also a huge part of our lives, and it is important to show them how much we love them, too. They’re much easier to shop for, because there is not as much pressure as shopping for a significant other, but you can still know the person just as well, if not better. For friends, I’ve always loved doing a bunch of smaller things rather than one big present. Get them some self care items like face masks or bubble bath, something fun you can do together like a project or craft, and a silly card. (The silly card is in fact mandatory, you can’t have a good holiday season without one.)

This holiday season, take the time to think about your loved ones and how much they’ve helped you this year. 2020 has been hard on all of us, and showing our appreciation towards one another is crucial. You don’t have to break the bank to show your love for everyone in your life, all you need is a basic understanding of your loved one’s interests, and some sort of outlet to show it.
